2012

The Tap is Born

Nathan Finney transitioned from financial advising to pursue his dream of owning and operating a Craft Beer bar, which ultimately evolved into a full-service restaurant, The Tap.

2014

The Tap Expands to Brewery

Finney wanted to offer something unique at The Tap, so he decided to start brewing and serving their own beer. After an extensive search, Jarrod May was hired as the Head Brewer. Under his leadership, The Tap Brewery has achieved top accolades at both the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.

2015

The Tap Expands to Indianapolis

Demand followed Finney to downtown Indianapolis to open The Tap’s 2nd location in the highly popular Mass Ave Cultural District.

2018

Social Cantina is Born

Spotting a gap in the Bloomington, IN market for a stylish, flavorful, and vibrant Mexican restaurant, Finney created Social Cantina. It is a fusion of traditional Mexican and modern American fare, making it a hot spot for all ages.

2019

SmokeWorks is Born

Finney created a Memphis Barbecue concept, featuring over 200 styles of Bourbon, Whiskey, and Scotch, both locally and globally, to honor his mother’s unbeatable homemade side dishes.

Finney Brings Back Yogi’s

The previous owner of Yogi’s, a popular neighborhood bar in Bloomington, decided to sell the business. They chose Finney to take over the brand rights because they believed he would do justice to the bar, which has been open since 1993. Consequently, Finney re-opened the nostalgic Indiana University sports bar.

2021

Social Cantina Expands to Carmel, IN and the Tap to West Lafayette

In Midtown Plaza, the second location of Social Cantina has found a home along the Monon Trail. This area is known for its scenic landscapes, community activities, and specialty shops. Amid the lively IU vs. PU rivalry, Finney decided to establish The Tap’s third location near the Purdue University campus, which is in Indiana’s second-largest college town.

Social Cantina Expands to Downtown Indianapolis, IN

With a desire to capture event traffic in the heart of Downtown Indianapolis, Social Cantina’s growth continued to Georgia & Illinois Street – a corner location within walking distance to Gainbridge Fieldhouse and Lucas Oil Stadium.

Social Cantina Expands to Mishawaka, IN

Social Cantina’s fourth location has opened in Northern Indiana at the desirable downtown Mishawaka development, Ironworks, along the St. Joseph Riverwalk.

2023

The Tap Earns Coveted Spot in Indianapolis Intl. Airport

Finney has been awarded a contract to bring The Tap to the Indianapolis International Airport. The airport location opened in late 2023.

2023

Kind Carwash is Born

After the COVID-19 pandemic forced the shutdown of the restaurant industry, Finney decided to diversify his entrepreneurial portfolio. He envisioned a philanthropic-centric model with an animated mascot and thus, Kind Car Wash was established.

2023

Slim Chickens Franchise Begins

Nathan secured a position to become a franchisee of Arkansas-based fast casual concept, Slim Chickens. Finney will be leading expansive growth throughout Central and Western Michigan.

2024

Social Cantina Expands to Nashville

FHG expanded outside Indiana with Social Cantina’s 5th location in Germantown, Nashville, TN. Slated to open in early 2025.
