GROWTH TIMELINE
The Tap is Born
Nathan Finney left the world of financial advising to fulfill his vision of owning and operating a Craft Beer bar. What started as a beer-only bar, The Tap later exploded, unintentionally, into a full-service restaurant.
The Tap Expands to Brewery
To provide a niche offering for The Tap, Finney wanted to brew and server their own beer. After a diligent search, Jerrod May was brought on as Head Brewer and has since led The Tap Brewery to the highest-level accolades at the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup.
The Tap Expands to Indianapolis
Demand followed Finney to downtown Indianapolis to open The Tap’s 2nd location in the exceedingly popular Mass Ave Cultural District.
Social Cantina is Born
Spotting a gap in the Bloomington, IN market for a stylish, flavorful, and vibrant Mexican restaurant, Finney created Social Cantina – a fusion of traditional Mexican and modern American fare and a hot spot for all ages.
SmokeWorks is Born
Wanting to honor his mother’s unbeatable homemade side dishes, Finney curated a Memphis Barbecue concept, complete with over 200 styles of Bourbon, Whiskey, and Scotch found both locally and globally.
Finney Brings Back Yogi’s
When the previous owner of the Bloomington staple, Yogi’s, went to sell their brand – Finney was top of mind to purchase the brand rights, as they felt he would do the popular neighborhood bar, opened since 1993, justice. Finney re-opened the nostalgic Indiana University sports bar.
Social Cantina Expands to Carmel, IN and the Tap to West Lafayette
Situated in Midtown Plaza, Social Cantina’s 2nd location found a home along the Monon Trail; an area known for its front row to manicured landscapes, community activities, and specialty shops.
With the IU vs PU rivalry alive and well, Finney sought after Indiana’s second largest college town. The Tap’s 3rd location was established near the campus of Purdue University.
Social Cantina Expands to Downtown Indianapolis, IN
With a desire to capture event traffic in the heart of Downtown Indianapolis, Social Cantina’s growth continued to Georgia & Illinois Street – a corner location within walking distance to Gainbridge Fieldhouse and Lucas Oil Stadium.
Social Cantina Expands to Mishawaka, IN
Social Cantina’s 4th location moved into Northern Indiana in the coveted downtown Mishawaka development, Ironworks, skirting the St. Joseph Riverwalk.
The Tap Earns Coveted Spot in Indianapolis Intl. Airport
Finney was awarded a contract to bring The Tap to the Indianapolis International Airport.
Kind Carwash is Born
After the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown the restaurant industry, Finney was ready to diversify his entrepreneurial portfolio. Envisioning a philanthropic-centric model with an animated mascot, Sudsy, Kind Car Wash emerged.
Slim Chickens Franchise Begins
Nathan secured a position to become a franchisee of Arkansas-based fast casual concept, Slim Chickens. Finney will be leading expansive growth throughout Central and Western Michigan.
Social Cantina Expands to Nashville
FHG made its way outside the Indiana state lines with Social Cantina’s 5th location in Germantown, a neighborhood in Nashville, TN.
